First-round loss not what men expected

With a 16-8 record and seeded fourth, the No. 60 DePaul men’s tennis team had high expectations for their performance at the Big East Championship on April 29-May 1 at Notre Dame. But after a close 4-3 loss to St. John’s in the first round, their fourth 4-3 loss this season, hopes of winning conference quickly disappeared.

“Well, it was a disappointment,” said senior Ben Hartman. “It wasn’t what we wanted, expected. We were able to bounce back, handle the loss, finish up strong…our goal was to win. We didn’t expect to lose in the first round. We expected to be competitive in the semifinals.” (more…)

Light schedule gives men chance to rest, refocus before Big East tournament

From Warsaw, Poland to Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., No. 1 spot to No. 7, no matter the distance between the players, one thing remains certain – win or lose, the No. 62 DePaul men’s tennis team will do it as a team.

“I’m always the first one to tell the guys that we win as a team, we lose as a team,” said Head Coach Matt Brothers. (more…)
